A Hulu subscription lets you stream buzzy shows like The Bear and Abbott Elementary and reality TV brain candy like The Kardashians and Dance Moms, sure. But there’s also a veritable treasure trove of sexy movies on Hulu for your viewing pleasure—emphasis, of course, on the pleasure. The question is: Which film (or films, if you’re looking to host a smutty little watch-athon) should you choose when the night is young and you’re feeling a little freaky? When you want something that will invoke a certain mood, scratch a proverbial itch, and get you a bit hot and bothered from the comfort of your couch?
The number of steamy movies on Hulu is overwhelming, and we all know the feeling of scrolling through countless titles until your mind goes blank and you give up and play Brooklyn Nine-Nine for the 800th time or waffle between various Richard Gere movies until you fall asleep with your laptop in your bed. Who needs that kind of sexual frustration? You certainly don’t, which is why we’ve rounded up a balanced selection of hot flicks that are well worth checking out. (You can also browse our list of sexy movies on Netflix for even more spicy entertainment options.)
Some of our picks offer explicit moments; others leave plenty up to the imagination. Are you a sucker for romantic comedies? Get an eyeful of young Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway in the achingly bittersweet Love and Other Drugs. If thrillers are more your thing, consider Deep Water—a sizzling film with sex scenes heightened by suspenseful stakes. Looking for something a little kinkier and think-ier? Grab some popcorn and behold the art-house smolder of Sanctuary and Benedetta. Perhaps best of all, Hulu is home to lower-profile features that audiences might otherwise miss, including a host of LGTBQ+-focused offerings like Disobedience, Fire Island, and Portrait of a Lady on Fire.
So get ready to fire up the TV (or your laptop) and settle in for a titillating evening at home—alone or with a partner. Ahead, you’ll find 17 super sexy movies you can enjoy on Hulu right now.
1. Deep Water
Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas’s paparazzi-documented relationship began while filming this Hulu original, which could also be titled How (Not) to Have an Open Marriage. Married New Orleans couple Vic (Affleck) and Melinda (de Armas) have a never-quite-explained arrangement in which Melinda sleeps with a string of younger men, including Euphoria’s Jacob Elordi. But Melinda takes equal pleasure in drunkenly flaunting her dalliances, upsetting Vic, their circle of hard-partying friends, and the couple’s young daughter. Things take a turn for the murderous, and while director Adrian Lyne has made better erotic thrillers (Unfaithful, Fatal Attraction), its mix of titillating scenes and what-just-happened?! moments make it a fun ride.
2. Disobedience
Disobedience is a slow burn—the “action” doesn’t get going until 45 minutes in—but burn it does. When Ronit (Rachel Weisz) returns to the English Orthodox community she was shunned from after getting caught with her first love, Esti (Rachel McAdams), they rekindle their forbidden affair. Neither the fact that Ronit’s staying with Esti and her husband, Dovid (Alessandro Nivola), nor the community’s fierce homophobia can dampen their desire for each other, which blooms in an electric sequence between Weisz and McAdams.
3. This One’s for the Ladies
Fans of Magic Mike XXL will likely love Gene Graham’s 2018 documentary, which takes viewers into the world of the Black, mostly male stripper crew the New Jersey Nasty Boyz. The doc’s sexiest moments are when you’re fully immersed in the female fans’ joyful mass horniness: Rarely settling on one subject’s life for long, the film mixes random scenes from the strippers’ off-duty lives with footage of the women who delight in their chiseled, undulating, sweaty bodies.
4. Benedetta
Benedetta is definitely the weirdest film on this list, but it’s also one of the hottest movies on Hulu if your tastes run a little taboo. Two words: lesbian nuns. A few more words: Set in 17th-century Italy, this tale of plague and religious visions at a convent somehow manages to squeeze in a love story with a few sex scenes (featuring the aforementioned lesbian nuns)—and a lot more nudity than one might expect for a film that’s so stigmata-oriented.
5. Love and Other Drugs
In Love and Other Drugs, Maggie (Anne Hathaway) is a sardonic, beautiful woman living with Parkinson’s disease who pushes people away because she’s afraid of being loved and left as her health degenerates. Jamie (Jake Gyllenhaal) is a pharmaceutical salesman with amazing eyebrows, irresistible swagger, and an allergy to commitment. They meet at a doctor’s office and fall hard for each other—complications and all—in classic rom-com fashion. The movie’s sex scenes perfectly capture that electrifying “can’t keep our hands off each other” phase of a new relationship, the one where you might still both be telling yourselves it’s “just casual.” So hot!
6. Portrait of a Lady on Fire
Set on the French coast of Brittany in the 18th century, Céline Sciamma’s visually stunning movie tells the love story of an artist and her subject. Marianne (Noémie Merlant) is hired to paint a wedding portrait of Héloïse (Adèle Haenel), an aristocrat who’s dodging the assignment because she dreads her arranged marriage. Soon, both Héloïse and Marianne learn how incredible it feels when someone truly sees you, and the passion between them grows. Portrait of a Lady on Fire also features the most erotic shot of an armpit you may ever see in a major motion picture (just trust us).
7. The Hating Game
If you’re a fan of enemies-to-lovers plotlines or a down-and-dirty office romance, then The Hating Game is your kind of sexy movie. Lucy (Lucy Hale) and Josh (Austin Stowell) are rivals striving side by side at a publishing company. When they enter into a bet related to the Big Promotion (whoever loses out has to quit), competitive sparks turn to romantic ones, even as Lucy continues to entertain another sweet—if dorky—coworker with whom she has decidedly less chemistry. If you’ve ever giggled when your work crush sent you a Slack message, consider this movie a safe space for your NSFW fantasies.
8. Stars at Noon
Margaret Qualley and Joe Alwyn star in this taut romantic thriller about a journalist turned survival sex worker who’s trapped in a hostile environment in Nicaragua. She meets and falls in love with a mysterious British man who’s willing to put everything on the line to save her. This movie isn’t a light watch—in terms of erotic thrillers, it’s pretty heavy on the “thrill”—but Qualley and Alwyn’s us-against-the-world chemistry is enough to make you happily (and hornily) go along for the ride through all the movie’s twists and turns.
9. Mark, Mary, and Some Other People
Mark (Ben Rosenfield) and Mary (Hayley Law) are adorkable newlyweds who, at Mary’s suggestion, decide to give consensual nonmonogamy a try. It’s a comedy, so there’s plenty of awkward misfires as they find their way (and to be fair, sex can be pretty funny). But it’s a rare story of two people trying to communicate their way through an open marriage without shame, and could even spark a conversation if you’d like to broach it with your own partner.
10. Hustlers
If you’re in the mood to see women taking charge (and committing some serious financial crimes), the ripped-from-the-headlines Hustlers is the perfect film to throw on for a girls’ night in. The star-studded ensemble cast features Constance Wu, Lizzo, Cardi B, and Keke Palmer, playing badass strippers who scam their customers out of money. The whole operation is anchored by Jennifer Lopez, who plays the girl gang’s ringleader in a performance that garnered some serious Oscar buzz (she was robbed!). This movie is a romp and features plenty of hotties hustling their lingerie-clad butts off—until their scheme comes crashing down around them.
11. Just Wright
There’s plenty of sexual tension between Common and Queen Latifah in this romantic comedy. Queen Latifah plays Leslie Wright, a physical therapist who helps basketball player Scott McKnight (Common) rehabilitate following an injury. Leslie’s best friend just happens to start dating Scott, but that doesn’t stop the physical therapist from falling in love with her basketball-star patient. We won’t spoil the ending of this film, which follows the “will they or won’t they” plotline, but we will say it’s definitely worth watching just for the chemistry.
12. Plus One
Jack Quaid and Maya Erskine play Ben and Alice, two college friends who get really tired of going to weddings alone. They decide to be one another’s wedding date for an entire year and predictably grow closer during the process. The two start dating fairly early in the movie but soon have relationship problems. Can they make it through the whole year, or will they end up going solo once again?
13. Sharp Stick
My God, can Lena Dunham ever write a sex scene. Sharp Stick is a movie about a quirky 26-year-old virgin’s sexual awakening via a series of super-charged dalliances with a much older man (played by a smoking hot Jon Bernthal)…who also happens to be the father of the kid she babysits. The hookups throughout this movie range from awkward to arousing as Sarah Jo (Kristine Froseth) grows more and more confident (and kinky) as she gains experience—and if that ain’t the truth, we don’t know what is.
14. Sanctuary
Rebecca (Margaret Qualley) is a dominatrix in…love? Lust? Intoxicated by the payday of a lifetime? It’s not quite clear how the two leads in Sanctuary feel about each other—but it’s obvious that it’s intense. Like, knifepoint sex, safe words, delayed orgasm after cleaning the bathroom floor in your underwear-level intense. Christopher Abbott, who most of us probably know from his turn as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, plays Hal, a nepo baby who can’t resist giving Rebecca control—even as he insists he’s still the one holding the reigns—in this fast-paced, darkly comic, BDSM-centric scorcher that feels like it owes a lot of its sensibilities to Billions and Succession.
15. Fire Island
Fire Island is as feel-good as a movie about vacation drama can be. Helmed by Bowen Yang and Joel Booster Kim, this 2022 flick—which is actually a riff on Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice—is about a pair of friends navigating the surprisingly thorny social landscape of New York’s legendary queer beach getaway, the titular Fire Island. There are a few steamy scenes sprinkled throughout, including one indie-film lit orgy played for laughs, which this rom-com with a heart of gold has in spades.
16. Good Luck to You, Leo Grande
Emma Thompson and Daryl McCormack make a very handsome leading couple in this sweet, sparse movie about the kind of relationship that’s rarely portrayed onscreen. Nancy (Thompson) and Leo (McCormack) slowly grow close through the female client/male sex worker dynamic the story revolves around, with Nancy, a retired school teacher, getting some lessons in sex from the much younger man she’s paid to spend time with her. Leo and Nancy’s trysts are tenderly erotic, and as a bonus, the way Thompson plays an older woman blooming into her sexual confidence late in life is empowering without being cloying.
17. All of Us Strangers
What do we call movies that aren’t quite horror movies but have elements of the macabre? In the case of All of Us Strangers, we call them pretty damn hot. Andrew Scott is Adam, a writer coming out of his shell with the help of his neighbor, Harry, played by Paul Mescal. The chemistry between the two feels natural, as do the sex scenes—this one is light on nudity, heavy on pathos, but there’s a primo shot of somebody’s ass that makes the film an absolute must-have on any sexy movies roundup.
